Recommended Change to Washington’s Unemployment Benefits Notice

The Washington Employment Security Department has updated the Unemployment Benefits notice to remove the restrictions on making an online application for benefits. The URL for the Worksource free resource for job hunting has been revised and the revision date has been updated to January, 2017.

Recommended Change to Washington’s Unemployment Benefits Notice

The Washington Employment Security Department updated the Unemployment Benefits posting. When applying for benefits, applicants will need to provide previous employer information within the last 18 months of employment instead of the last 24 months. The criteria for applying online has also been reduced from 24 months to 18 months for applicants who had a job outside of Washington. If applying by phone, availability hours have been changed from 8 am – 5 pm to 8 am – 4 pm and there is no longer suggested calling days based on one’s social security number. There is also a new layout to the posting which includes a picture of the website and URL. The revision date has also been updated.

The Washington State Department of Labor & Industries updated the Job Safety and Health Law posting with a correction to the DOSH telephone number in which employers may report deaths, in-patient hospitalizations, amputations, or loss of an eye.

Your Rights as a Worker:

Effective date: 12/10/2015

The Washington State Department of Labor & Industries updated the Your Rights as a Worker posting with various updates to the department’s URL where additional information about the law can be found.

Notice to Employees-If a Job Injury Occurs (State-Insured):

Effective date: 11/24/2015

The Washington State Department of Labor & Industries updated the Notice to Employees-If a Job Injury Occurs (State-Insured) posting with various updates to the department’s URL on finding L&I’s network providers and where the Report of Accident form can be found.

Recommended Change to Washington’s Minimum Wage Notice

The Washington State Department of Labor and Industries has updated their Minimum Wage posting to reflect changes to the effective date of the state minimum wage. The minimum wage rate of $9.47 per hour will continue to be effective beginning January 1, 2016. Additionally, the notice now contains an updated revision date and a new web address to receive additional information regarding Washington’s Minimum Wage Law.

Washington’s Mandatory Change to Safety and Health Law Posting

The Washington State Department of Labor and Industries has updated their Job Safety and Health Law notice. Information regarding reporting guidelines to the Division of Occupational Safety and Health (DOSH) have been updated . Any work-related non-hospitalized amputation or loss of an eye must be reported within 24 hours to DOSH. Additionally, employees may now request an L&I inspection and take part in the inspection without the consequence of loss of wages or benefits. Finally, the format of the posting has been updated along with a new publication date.
