Idaho Mandatory Discrimination Notice Update

The Idaho Commission of Human Rights has updated the Discrimination Notice to now include additional protected classes. Also, under the law, employees cannot be retaliated against for exercising their rights. Additional contact information has been provided and updated. The revision date has been updated to 3/1/2017.

Equal Employment is the Law

The Idaho Department of Labor has updated the Equal Opportunity Is the Law notice. Pregnancy, childbirth, and related medical conditions, sex stereotyping, transgender status, gender identity, and those with limited English proficiency have been added as protected classes under the law. Additionally, recipients of federal financial assistance must take reasonable steps to ensure that communication with individuals with disabilities is as effective as communication with others. Recipients are required to provide appropriate auxiliary aids and services to individuals with disabilities. Lastly, Amy Hohnstein is the new WIOA Equal Opportunity Officer. Contact information to file a complaint has been updated along with the notice’s revision date (12/2016).

Recommended Changes to Idaho’s Unemployment Insurance Benefits and Equal Employment Notices

Unemployment Insurance Benefits:

Effective date: 5/1/2016

The Idaho Department of Labor has updated their Unemployment Insurance Benefits notice. The notice has an updated format and now states that claims for unemployment insurance must be filed through their online claim portal. A new logo and a revision date of 5/2016 have also been added.

Equal Employment:

Effective date: 6/1/2015

The Idaho Department of Labor has updated their Equal Employment is the Law notice. Joe Karpach is the new WIA Equal Opportunity Officer. Additionally, a new extension and email address have been added for contact information. The notice’s new revision date is 6/15.
