Mandatory Changes to Oregon’s Minimum Wage and Agricultural Minimum Wage Notices

Minimum Wage:

Effective date: 7/1/2016

The Oregon Bureau of Labor and Industries updated the Minimum Wage notice. Effective July 1, 2016, employers are required to pay their employees at least the minimum wage rate in effect for the region where the employer is located. The “Standard” minimum wage rate is $9.75 per hour, the “Portland Metro” rate is $9.75 per hour, and the “Nonurban Counties” rate is $9.50 per hour. A listing of counties applicable to each rate is listed on the posting as well as clarification on how employees who make deliveries in other counties are to be paid. The requirement for keeping employee payroll records has increased from two years to three years. Additionally, information on employment of minors have been removed from the posting.

Agricultural Minimum Wage:

Effective date: 7/1/2016

The Oregon Bureau of Labor and Industries (BOLI) has revised the Agricultural Minimum Wage notice to reflect the new minimum wage of $9.75 per hour for “Standard” and “Portland Metro” areas. For “Nonurban counties,” the minimum wage is now $9.50 per hour. BOLI has included new information on the posting to help employers determine which region they fall under. Mandatory Change to Missouri’s Youth Employment List Notice

The Missouri Department of Labor and Industrial Relations updated the Youth Employment List notice. Clarification has been made with respect to who can issue work certificates (school official or their designees, or a parent of a home-schooled child). Acceptable working hours (for youths ages 14 and 15) from June 1 through Labor Day has been revised to read “during non-school term.” The email address for the Missouri Division of Labor Standards and the revision date have both been updated, and information has been added which states that the department is an equal opportunity employer/program.

Recommended Changes to Idaho’s Unemployment Insurance Benefits and Equal Employment Notices

Unemployment Insurance Benefits:

Effective date: 5/1/2016

The Idaho Department of Labor has updated their Unemployment Insurance Benefits notice. The notice has an updated format and now states that claims for unemployment insurance must be filed through their online claim portal. A new logo and a revision date of 5/2016 have also been added.

Equal Employment:

Effective date: 6/1/2015

The Idaho Department of Labor has updated their Equal Employment is the Law notice. Joe Karpach is the new WIA Equal Opportunity Officer. Additionally, a new extension and email address have been added for contact information. The notice’s new revision date is 6/15.

Mandatory Change to New York’s Child Labor Law Notice

The New York Department of Labor updated the Child Labor Law notice. The permitted work hours for newspaper carriers have been revised from “7 AM to 7 PM June 21 to Labor Day” to “5 AM to 7 PM or 30 minutes prior to Sunset, whichever is later.” Additional changes include a new logo, updated URL, and a revision date of 03-16.

Effective date: 3/23/2016
