Mandatory Labor Law Change for Texas Effective 9/1

The Office of Injured Employee Counsel has updated Texas’s Notice to Employees Concerning Assistance Available in the Workers’ Compensation System. The agency’s website has been updated and there have been clarifications regarding additional services that an Ombudsman can provide for employees who have a dispute with an employer’s insurance carrier. A new revision date has been added as well as additional information dictating stipulations as to where this posting must be located in a workplace, and what languages it must be posted in.This change affecting the Texas Ombudsman Notice to Employees is in effect September 1, 2013. Mandatory Labor Law Change for Vermont Unemployment Insurance

The Vermont Unemployment Insurance poster has been updated to reflect additional information and regional offices. Changes on the poster include information referencing that the Vermont Department of Labor offers free professional assistance in finding a job, an internship or job training opportunities through the Vermont Department of Labor Career Resource Centers. Additional Career resource Centers have also been added to the new poster.

Mandatory Labor Law Change for West Virginia Unemployment Benefits

WORKFORCE West Virginia has updated their Notice to Employees on Unemployment Benefits revise the unemployment eligibility requirements. Employees may now use an alternate base period (consisting of the last four quarters immediately preceding the first day of the individual’s benefit year) if so desired to qualify for unemployment benefits. Additionally, a new 2013 revision date has been added.

Mandatory Labor Law Change for Massachusetts Unemployment Insurance

Massachusetts’ Executive Office of Labor and Workforce Development, Department of Unemployment Assistance has updated their Information on Employees’ Unemployment Insurance Coverage posting. Employees in the state of Massachusetts can now apply for Unemployment Insurance online, and can no longer file their claim in person. Additionally, the number to call for hearing-impaired relay services has changed and a new 2013 revision date has been added to the posting.

Mandatory Labor Law Change for Georgia Workers Compensation

The Georgia State Board of Workers’ Compensation has updated their Bill of Rights for the Injured Worker posting to reflect the increase in payable Workers Compensation benefits. Workers may now receive up to $525 per week for a job-related injury. If the worker can return to work but only get a lower paying job as a result of a work-related injury, he or she is now entitled to receive up to $350 per week.  If a worker dies as a result of an on-the-job accident, dependent(s) can now be paid up to $525 a week. Additionally, a new July 2013 revision date has been added to the posting.
