Q: Is OSHA4Less.com a government agency?
A: Osha4less.com is a non-governmental organization. We are not affiliated with OSHA or any other government body. Our Labor Law Posters are approved by our attorneys and are provided to you as a service to employers.
Q: Does OSHA4Less offer any legal support or advice?
A: Unfortunately not. However, we can assist you with all product-related questions and provide you with information that will aid you in achieving compliance with state and federal labor laws. If you need specific legal advice or support, we advise you to seek legal counsel from a professional attorney.
Q: Do I need new labor law poster every year?
A: No, you only need new labor law posters when there is a major change in the text of the required postings, or when new mandatory postings are added.
Q: How often do the state and federal labor laws change?
A: The state and federal labor law posters change whenever a change in legislation occurs on the state or federal levels. There is no predictable pattern and major changes can occur anywhere from once every few years to several times per year (especially with a new president in office), which is why we offer the Poster Protection Program. This program provides automatic updates sent to you via email whenever changes in state or federal labor law posting requirements occur for the calendar year. All you need to do is download and print out the update and display it alongside your labor law poster.
Q: Federal minimum wage will be increasing again in 2009. Do I need to get a new federal poster for 2009?
A: If you purchased your federal poster before January 2009, you do need a new federal poster, even if your current poster displays the minimum wages for 2007, 2008, and 2009. This is because in January, a major update occurred on the Family & Medical Leave Act (FMLA). Any federal posters purchased after January 2009 include this update.
Q: Do I still need to post federal posters if my state minimum wage is higher than federal minimum wage?
A: Yes, you do need to post the federal minimum wage poster, too. This is because the federal minimum wage poster also includes regulations on child labor and overtime.
Q: Do I need to post labor laws in other languages?
A: If your entire workforce is fluent in English, you are not required to post in other languages. However, you should check with your state to see what their regulations are. If your workforce is comprised of any portion of workers who are not literate in English, you are required to display posters in a language they can read.
Q: “I’ve received a ‘final notice’ in the mail about new regulations, and if I don’t comply by buying a poster, I’ll be hit with big fines.” Be aware that those compliance notices are usually sent out by commercial companies to try and trick small businesses into buying their posters – posters they may or may not need. So, how do you know when to update your posters?
A: You can find information on current requirements by visiting the U.S. Department of Labor’s website and your own state’s Department of Labor website, or you can check the list of major recent updates we maintain on our Labor Law Poster News webpage.
Q: Do I have to buy labor law posters?
A: No, you don’t have to buy them. You can go to various state and federal websites and download the postings you’re required to display, print them out on your own printer and hang them. The problem with doing that is that hanging multiple printouts may look messy and you might not find all the laws you’re supposed to have posted. Obtaining information on mandatory labor law postings can be very difficult and time consuming. The reason most companies do buy labor law posters is because the purchased posters simplify compliance and look more attractive. We provide attorney approved and up to date State Labor Law Posters, Federal Labor Law Posters, State and Federal Poster Packs, and many other compliance posters and products.
Q: Are the posters laminated?
A: Yes, all of our posters are laminated. However, if you prefer to purchase your posters non-laminated, that option is also available. Laminated posters are protected and are more durable; another reason to purchase your labor law posters from a professional supplier.
Q: Where should I display my labor law posters?
A: Your labor law posters should be displayed in your place of business where your employees visit at least once per day. For example, if your employees are all working in the same area or share the same break room, you need only one poster. If your workplaces are separate from one another, then each workplace should display its own poster.
