Pub. Date: 2005 Publisher: Builder's Book, Inc.
Produced by the U.S. Access Board, these Guidelines update access requirements for a wide range of public and private facilities covered by the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and the Architectural Barriers Act of 1968 (ABA).
The Guidelines detail how to meet ADA and ABA requirements in various building elements and spaces, including entrances, ramps, parking, restrooms and telephones, among others.
This updated set of Guidelines is now more consistent with model building codes, such as the International Building Code (IBC), ANSI and other industry standards. Other features of this major update include... - Revised to reflect changes in technology since the ADA was first issued in 1991.
- New format and organization makes ADA and ABA requirements clearer and easier to understand.
The 8th edition updates the book's easy-to-use legal charts to provide your state's current employment laws. It also covers the latest developments, such as the Supreme Court's new definition of "retaliation," and why the number of claims against employers are going up.
Note: The Board’s guidelines serve as the baseline for standards used to enforce the ADA and the ABA. These standards, which are maintained by other Federal agencies, such as the U.S. Department of Justice under the ADA, will be updated according to the new guidelines. It is these standards, not the Board’s guidelines, that the public must follow.
